Anubisを象ったオープンワークの透かし bladeを囲む立つ像を含む、開口部のあるブロンズの儀式用斧。新王国時代、紀元前1500–紀元前1100年。
アヌビスはジャッカルの頭を持つ神で、ミイラ化と来世と関係が深い。神性は横顔で描かれ、垂直に筋の入ったウィッグと短いプリーツのキルトを身に着け、両腕を刃の外縁へ伸ばしている。斧の上端は広く直線的で、側面はやや凹み、下端は緩やかに曲がっている。像はオープンワークの枠組みに組み込まれており、頭部・衣装・四肢には丁寧な彫刻細部が施されている。
この斧は発掘時の状態で、経年による表面の擦れ、茶色および緑色の錆、散在する被膜、微小な表面不規則性があるが、独特のオープンワークデザインと確かな宗教的イメージは保たれている。
エジプトの儀式用ブロンズ作品として印象的な例であり、アヌビスの象徴的な表現を特徴とする。古代エジプト美術品、宗教 artefacts、あるいは考古学的金工作品のコレクターに最適。
