This is a traditional lacquerware piece from Okayama, Japan, carved from a single piece of wood (一木彫), without any splicing. It's a high-end Japanese tea ceremony utensil and confectionery container, and can also be used as a tea tray.

Carved from a single piece of wood, the thick, sturdy wood is coated with a natural brown lacquer, giving it a warm, translucent finish that clearly shows the wood grain. The surface is hand-carved with orchid patterns, the leaves filled with black lacquer, while the orchids retain the original light color of the wood. The carving lines are smooth and clean, creating an elegant contrast between black and light, evoking the imagery of a secluded orchid in a valley.

Dimensions: Approximately 23cm in diameter and 4cm in height.
Condition: An old lacquered wooden tray with natural signs of wear and tear, in excellent condition. Suitable for display or serving tea snacks and confectionery.
