- Favourite Monsters -
ORIGINAL Painting, character portraiture by ARVY

The painting is 100% hand-painted using highly pigmented artist-grade acrylic paints, and finished with a UV-protective satin varnish. It is created on unprimed, firm, robust, and kink-resistant gallery-quality canvas (360 g/m²) without a stretcher frame.
Dimensions: 100x165 cm (entire canvas)

Artwork Overview:

They arrived wearing their best crowns, which tells you how seriously they took the invitation.

The smallest smiled first. The one with three eyes checked that everybody had arrived. The tallest opened its enormous mouth, apparently carrying a story too big to keep inside. Within minutes, the gathering had become wonderfully familiar: four strange personalities, each delighted to be included.

My Favourite Monsters invites you into that imagined encounter. Its creatures have the affectionate absurdity of imaginary friends: oversized eyes, crooked smiles, extravagant crowns and bodies assembled according to their own peculiar logic. Their expressions make it easy to give them names—and harder to choose a favourite.

A soft background of lavender, cream and drifting blue gives the bold black figures room to stand out. Yellow, pink, red and orange travel across the composition, connecting one character to the next. Loose symbols and wandering lines suggest the traces of conversations still hanging in the air.

There is a quiet tenderness beneath their theatrical appearance. Even the toothiest creature seems eager to tell you something. Together, they recall the freedom of childhood drawing, when a few marks could become somebody with a personality and a whole life of their own.

On a wall, this gathering becomes part of everyday life: familiar faces to return to, a spark of colour, and four wonderfully odd companions whose conversation you get to imagine.

Artist Bio:
ARVY is a fourth-generation artist continuing a family legacy of visual and performance art. He studied painting at an art college, graduating in 2016, and has been active in the art world ever since.

Raised in a creative household, ARVY began his artistic path in childhood while assisting his father — painter, illusionist and performer Arvydas Gaičiūnas ( Retne ), co-founder of Magic Theater DiArchy. This early exposure to both visual art and stage performance shaped his distinctive, theatrical sensibility.

ARVY’s work is eclectic and emotionally charged, blending elements of contemporary expressionism, symbolism, street energy, and poetic abstraction. His pieces explore contrasts — chaos and harmony, intuition and control — reflecting the pulse of modern life through vivid color and raw gesture.

He has exhibited internationally and his works are held in private collections across Europe. Beyond painting, ARVY is also known for his creative versatility as a musician and digital creator, bringing the same intensity and imagination to sound, movement, and image.

Thank you for considering ARVY’s work. This portrait is sure to be a standout addition to any collection of modern or contemporary art!
