Description from the seller

Item Description
This is a Japanese handled bamboo flower basket (手付花籠, tetsuki hanakago) signed Teichikusai 定竹斎 on the underside. It was made for ikebana and tea ceremony arrangements. The body has a square base that rises to a round mouth. It is woven in a loose, irregular open pattern (乱れ編み, midare-ami) of split bamboo strips, with the lower section finished in a tighter, close weave. The bamboo has a naturally mottled, amber-to-brown patina. A tall arched handle is woven from the body and wrapped with akebia vine. The gilt-filled incised signature is visible on one of the base slats. The open weave and sturdy handle make it suitable for display in a tokonoma, an entrance hall or a Japanese-style room.

It is supplied without an inner tube and without a box. For fresh flowers, a small glass or bamboo insert can be placed inside; for dried flowers or as a sculptural object, it can be displayed as is.

Image 3 is an AI-generated styling example only; dried flowers are not included.
