The Monza name evokes the sporting spirit associated with one of Europe's most famous motor-racing locations. During the 1960s and 1970s, motorsport-inspired model names became increasingly popular in watchmaking, reflecting the era's fascination with speed, automobiles and modern design.
This example captures that period particularly well. Its broad cushion-shaped gold-plated case represents the transition away from the restrained round watches of the 1950s toward the more architectural forms that would define the 1970s.
