Description from the seller
FARAS HAIDAR — CHILDREN NEED PEACE, 2026
Original Contemporary Painting — Permanent Marker and Acrylic on Canvas
60 × 130 cm · Unique original artwork — 1/1
An expansive imaginary world carries a simple, urgent message: every child deserves to grow up in peace.
In Children Need Peace, Faras Haidar brings imagined creatures, expressive faces, weapons and contrasting symbols together across a panoramic canvas. Turquoise, pink, yellow, red and green animate the composition, while bold dark contours connect its many encounters.
THE ARTWORK
The painting invites discovery through its density. Larger figures attract attention first; smaller characters, intricate patterns and unexpected relationships emerge with closer observation.
Passages of detailed black-and-white drawing alternate with broad areas of colour. Permanent marker gives the imagery definition, while acrylic establishes contrasts that guide the eye across the elongated composition.
The playful appearance carries a serious concern. Crowded encounters, differences of scale and unsettling imagery suggest a world in which conflict and inequality can overwhelm vulnerable voices.
Haidar places this complexity beside a fundamental childhood need: safety. His imagined world becomes a space for reflecting on the conditions children need to learn, belong and develop without fear.
The handwritten message on the reverse expresses the artist’s intention:
“Every child deserves to grow up in peace, free from war and violence.”
THE ARTIST’S APPROACH
Faras Haidar develops a contemporary doodle practice through densely populated imaginary worlds. Combining detailed drawing with expressive colour, he explores belonging, difference and hope.
In Children Need Peace, individual characters contribute to a larger visual narrative. Their encounters encourage viewers to move between the pleasure of discovering details and reflection on the painting’s central appeal.
