Maserati - Biturbo Si - 1987

Up for auction is this rare Maserati Biturbo Si black edition or type 331 BOSI from 1987. Only 992 of the Biturbo Si were made specifically for the Italian market because of a tax advantage for cars with a maximum cylinder capacity of 2000 cc. Despite the rather small cylinder capacity, Maserati managed to provide 220HP with this engine thanks to the double turbo, the double intercooler and the injection which was quite an accomplishment at the time. This version has an injection system contrary to the first models with carburettors, it doesn’t have vapour lock when the engine was warm. This car was imported from Italy in 1996 and brought to the Netherlands where I purchased it in 2013. It looks good considering its age with only a couple of small parking dents and a couple of rust spots on the sides and on the boot lid. The interior also looks good considering its age. The headlining requires some maintenance and a seam on the left side of the driver seat has slightly come loose. The interior of the car is fitted with the distinctive Maserati clock which is rather rare and the toolkit is complete but it has had some dampness. The car has just been inspected, the Dutch periodic vehicle inspection is valid until 24 October 2021 and falls under the transitional arrangement for road tax in the Netherlands. Making use of this arrangement means you can pay a reduced tax rate but are not allowed to drive on public roads in December, January and February. Also included in the sale: user manual, electrical diagram, Maserati Biturbo brochure, and the digital workshop manual (English/Italian) in PDF format. Grab this opportunity to drive a classic Italian sports car at a modest price. It is recommended to view the car prior to placing a bid in order to prevent disappointment afterwards. Please contact Catawiki to schedule an appointment.
