Beautiful painting by Piet Cottaar, well-known dutch painter of still lifes; the painting is in nicely cleaned condition, unfortunately I have no room for it anymore. Born: 2 December 1878, Delft. Died: 10 July 1950, Rotterdam. Still life - oil on canvas - signed, canvas size 117 x 77.5 cm. The painting is beautifully delicate and very detailed. On the left is a beautifully draped Persian rug in beautiful red tones. This is a large format, green glass wine bottle, in which the room is reflected, next to it is a reclining copper bucket with apples. Next to the apples are glistening red and white grapes, half lying on an 18th century psalm book with beautiful lock, opened on a beautifully decorated page. Above that is an 18th century Venetian wine glass, filled to the brim with red wine. Next to that is a pumpkin on silver plate. There is even a street named after this painter in Rotterdam. (Piet Cottaarstraat). The painting is in very good condition. The lot is in a beautiful original wooden frame, black lacquer with golden inner edge. The outer dimensions of the frame are: 117 cm x 77.5 cm. The dimensions of the canvas are: 101 cm x 60.5 cm. The painting can be picked up in Leiderdorp, parking immediately out front. Shipping is still possible, but is rather expensive due to its size and proper packing materials.
