Raoul Dufy (1877-1953) "Port De Deauville" from the series "Les côtes Normandes" - original autographed colour lithograph with glass plate - France 1961
This beautiful colour lithograph by Raoul Dufy depicts a brightly coloured gate scene in the fauvist style. Small and large sailboats are anchored in the harbour and the people, who are indicated only by black lines, are present in this summer scene. The French national flag, Le Tricolore, is recognizable in the left edge of the painting, referring to the painter's French heritage.
The colour lithograph is in good condition and is part of the series "Les côtes Normandes" (the Normandy coasts).
Raoul Dufy (1877-1953) was born in Le Havre in Normandy and studied at the École Nationale Superieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris before working in the studio of the French painter Leon Bonnat (1833-1922).
