The ceasefire is effective at eleven, resulting in all France bells and bugles ringtones announcing the end of a war that claimed more than 18 million dead and millions of disabled or maimed. German and Allied generals gather in a dining carriage of Marshal Foch, in the Rethondes career in Compiègne Forest. Later in 1919, at Versailles, they will sign the Treaty of Versailles.
