Sarcofaag miniatuur Agrippa's Tomb Grand Tour Souvenir - Neoklassiek - "Giallo Antico" marmer - Eerste helft 19e eeuw
This Grand Tour souvenir is a miniature copy of an ancient Roman tank in Egyptian porphyry, known as the "Tomb of Agrippa", found near the Pantheon in the 15th century.
After several moves over the centuries, the monument ended up in the Basilica of St. John, where it still is to these days. Being provided with a lid in 1742, it became the burial of Pope Clement XII.
The finely carved miniature in antique veined yellow marble, with a black Belgian marble base, is in very good condition. Minimal shortcomings are visible in the last two photographs.
