Oil on panel depicting a mountain landscape with lake, signed and dated on bottom right “L. Vicentini”. Painter born in Pomarolo in 1901 and deceased in Nomi in 1970. His schoolmaster noticed his artistic inclination and directed him towards painting. When he had just turned 18, he understood that in his hometown he could have been nothing else but a farmer, so he moved to Milan where he found work as an art dealer at "Wilmann". He grew his passion for art and decided to enrol in the "scuola di arte applicata" at the Castello Sforzesco , under the guidance of Prof. Albertini and then moved on to the "Brera Academy" where he befriended the likes of Comolli, Palanti and Grandi. After 5 years of intensive studies, he was called to collaborate with Prof. Turri to work on the decorations of the "Duomo". Back in Milan, was called to work alongside Prof. Marchioro who was making sets for the La Scala Theatre. The Milanese years gave him the opportunity to face illustrious men of the time, but despite his promising career as a set designer, he decided to move to the Ligurian Riviera, and it is here that he began to paint as a non-decorative painter. He returned to Milan and then went through Venice struggling to emerge; in Rovereto he held a solo exhibition, where he met Talieno Manfrini, who appreciated the painter, and soon made friends with local colleagues, but only in the second solo exhibition received praise from the official critics. Political issues led him to emigrate to Germany and Austria, where he exhibited his works around the main cities. He returned to Italy where once again he struggled to impose his presence and his art, he exhibited his best paintings in many important exhibitions around the country, introspective paintings that almost always led to nature and mountain landscapes; his sacrifices and his coherence will once again be appreciated by Manfrini and also by Carlo Piovan, who would describe the painter's long career as well as his works full of feelings and sufferings and after his death would remember him with important reviews, calling him an illustrious citizen. The painting is in excellent condition, no restorations or retouches emerged under Wood’s lamp. The buyer will receive the complimentary frame visible in the photos (with some small defects).
