LUPIN III - RARE Short KATANA "Tantō". "Shirasaya" Model of character "GOEMON" "Zantetsu-Ken" - KATANA Deluxe Replica First production - Completely in Wood and 440C Carbon Steel blade(TOSHIN). NEW

Exceptional RARE FIRST PRODUCTION DELUXE EDITION of Samurai Short Katana called "Tantō" (short katana up to 55 cm long) Deluxe Version FULL IN WOOD, Blade made of 440C Carbon steel (TOSHIN), of the Katana "Shirasaya" GOEMON (LUPIN III) which is called in the animated series with the name of KATANA "Zantetsu-Ken". Completely handmade in light natural wood, with "Kanji" (Japanese characters ) on both the scabbard and the handle. N.B This is a rare production in real natural wood and not like the others produced in plastic painted with wood color. The peculiarity of this type of Katana is that if we insert the blade into the sheath, we seem to see a single piece of wood! Fantastic collector's piece! This wonderful "Tantō" is nothing more than a shorter Katana, in fact its total dimensions including the covers are 53 cm, while the blade is 28 cm, and as described below and as all the major experts will know that the blade of the "Tantō" ranges from 15 to 30 cm. Tantō were mostly carried by Samurai; commoners did not generally wear them. Women sometimes carried a small tantō called a Kaiken in their obi, primarily for self defense. Tantō were sometimes worn as the shōtō in place of a wakizashi in a Daishō, especially on the battlefield. Before the advent of the wakizashi/tantō combination, it was common for a samurai to carry a tachi and a tantō as opposed to a katana and a Wakizashi. The story of this Katana in the LUPIN III: Goemon is the portrait of the perfect samurai, animated by a deep sense of honor who follows an austere lifestyle. Goemon is an excellent swordsman, his precision in the art of swordsmanship and cutting is beyond human: only a few seconds after having sheathed his weapon, we discover the multiple cuts he caused on the object he had targeted . His weapon, a shirasaya katana called nagareboshi in the animated series zantetsu-ken (斬 鉄 剣 zan tetsu ken) is capable of cutting any object thanks to the material it is made of. That metal has been shown to impart multiple qualities to the sword: it makes it virtually indestructible, resistant to the point of going out of combat without so much as a scratch. Goemon says that the sword was created from the combination of three powerful katanas, and to recreate this metal alloy you need the three parchments that contain the instructions for rebuilding the same three metal alloys of the respective swords. Goemon Ishikawa XIII's katana is an ornamental katana made to look like the famous Lupine series katana. It is a fine example of Japanese craftsmanship and consists of a steel blade, wooden handle and scabbard. The total length is 100 cm and the blade measures 66 cm The story of Goemon's katana begins with his ancestor, Ishikawa Goemon. He was the legendary thief who lived during the Sengoku period (1467-1568) in Japan. His daring and daring robberies made him a folk hero, even among his enemies. Goemon was executed for his crimes, but his legacy lives on through his descendants and their connection to samurai culture. Goemon's katana is said to be inspired by the sword used by Goemon Ishikawa in the Lupine III manga and anime series, which follows the exploits of master thief Arsene Lupin III, grandson of the famous French gentleman thief Arsène Lupin. This ornamental Goemon katana features a curved single-edged blade that ends in an elongated point. The blade is made of steel, making it lightweight yet strong enough to withstand regular use throughout its life. Goemon's katana also comes with an attractive scabbard made from hardwood, allowing the katana to be preserved when not in use. Goemon's katana may be ornamental, but it still captures some elements of Japanese swordsmanship that have been passed down through generations of samurai warriors over hundreds of years, from its beautiful design to its elegant construction, making it a one-of-a-kind sets it apart from all other decorative swords available today. The blade is single or double edged with a length between 15 and 30 cm (6–12 inches, in Japanese 1 shaku). The tantō was designed primarily as a stabbing weapon, but the edge can be used for slashing as well. Tantō are generally forged in hira-zukuri style (without ridgeline), meaning that their sides have no ridge line and are nearly flat, unlike the shinogi-zukuri structure of a katana. Some tantō have particularly thick cross-sections for armor-piercing duty, and are called yoroi toshi. Tantō were mostly carried by samurai, as commoners did not generally wear them. Women sometimes carried a small tantō called a kaiken in their obi primarily for self-defense. Tantō were sometimes worn as the shōtō in place of a wakizashi in a daishō, especially on the battlefield. Before the advent of the wakizashi/tantō combination, it was common for a samurai to carry a tachi and a tantō as opposed to a katana and a wakizashi. It has been noted that the tachi would be paired with a tantō and later the uchigatana would be paired with another shorter uchigatana. With the advent of the katana, the wakizashi eventually was chosen by samurai as the short sword over the tantō. Kanzan Satō in his book The Japanese sword notes that there did not seem to be any particular need for the wakizashi and suggests that the wakizashi may have become more popular than the tantō due to the wakizashi being more suited for indoor fighting. He mentions the custom of leaving the katana at the door of a castle or palace when entering while continuing to wear the wakizashi inside.
