The wine is beautifully red fruity and spicy on the nose, offering up a constellation of strawberries, cherries, Rioja spice elements (mostly cinnamon and clove), a refined base of soil, a bit of orange zest and a lovely topnote of toasted coconut. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied, complex and marvelously transparent, with a fine core of red fruit, bouncy acids, little remaining tannin and excellent focus and grip on the complex, balanced and tangy finish. This will continue to age very gracefully on its acids, rather than its tannins, and has many decades of life still ahead of it.
