Lantaarn (1) - Breveté S.G.D.G Mijnwerkerslamp - IJzer (gegoten)
Knowing the working conditions in the mining area, the mining engineer Joseph Mercier constructed this lamp Etoile (star lamp) in Nancy-Jarville in 1904.
It quickly became widespread from 1905 onwards due to its simple, stable design. It was made of cast material (brass/iron/aluminum), was virtually "indestructible" and functioned safely even under difficult conditions. The distinctive feature of this lamp is the star cast on both sides.
Additionally there are writings around the star:
"Modelè déposé" = model deposited (at the patent office).
"Breveté S.G.D.G." = legally protected = patented
