Offered for auction is a beautiful WW2 US Army Ike Jacket uniform, dated May 1944, with the USAAF patch and an originally mounted Presidential Citation Bar with OAK LEAF (showing his unit earned it twice). The Presidential Unit Citation (PUC), originally called the Distinguished Unit Citation, is awarded to units of the uniformed services of the United States, and those of allied countries, for extraordinary heroism in action against an armed enemy on or after 7 December 1941 (the date of the Attack on Pearl Harbor and the start of American involvement in World War II). The unit must display such gallantry, determination, and esprit de corps in accomplishing its mission under extremely difficult and hazardous conditions so as to set it apart from and above other units participating in the same campaign. You can clearly see the bar has been on the ike jacket since the war. This is rare to find on an ike jacket and probably suggests he was at least involved in the D-Day operations of which the citation also was awarded. This beautiful Ike jacket has also originally applied private chevrons on the sleeves and 7(!!) overseas stripes, this indicates that he served 3,5 years overseas in Europe, consistent with the presence of the USAAF in Europe. The jacket has beautifu patina and has a label which is in nice condition as well as the jacket itself. Ideal for a mannequin or buste,
