This specimen has a high technical interest, let me explain it briefly below: - you are looking here at a 'primary' galena crystal (3.7 cm large) that grew at high rate under skeletal regime, which is supported by this partly hollow internal structure; - this internal structure is visible because the galena crystal underwent natural hydraulic fracturing during a late hydrothermal-tectonic event within the ore deposit; - subsequently, the galena crystal was slightly dissolved and healed due to hydrothermal fluid flow, which carved these hillock-stepped surface patterns on all surfaces; - late generation calcite blades crystallized then on the ancient rock fracture surface at the bottom of the specimen. Without this specific succession of geological events, none could have witnessed the internal skeletal structure of this crystal! Upon close-up examination, you would also notice dark green chlorite balls included and standing on the quartz needles. This specimen was unfortunately split during the extraction by the miners and carefully repaired by me: a small crack is visible from the left side.
