Fossiles Holz ist nicht nur ein wunderschönes Designobjekt, sondern auch ein faszinierendes Stück Geschichte, das man zu Hause behalten kann.
Der Versteinerungsprozess von Holz ist sehr langwierig, er dauert etwa tausend Jahre und erfordert spezielle Maßnahmen Bedingungen dafür, dass es erreicht werden kann: Es tritt im Allgemeinen auf, wenn ein Baum unter Luftabschluss fällt, um den Versteinerungsprozess zu ermöglichen.
Bei diesem Exemplar aus Madagaskar haben wir ein wunderschönes Stück in verschiedenen Farben, wobei verschiedene Farben vorherrschen Rottöne und verschiedene Streifen oder Streifen in Weiß und Braun. Außerdem gibt es auf einer Seite einen langen Riss, der wie ein Spalt im Holz aussieht. Pictures have been cleaned and taken while damp. Colors may vary slightly.

It is a fossil wood dating back 200 million years, all parts from a log or branches have been silicified, meaning that organic components were little by little replaced by silicon in the form of jasper, chalcedony and more rarely opal. Without the organic parts, all the living matter was replaced by stone : there are growth rings, cell separations, almost like worm cracks.
Its features are those of the mineral that would have pseudo-transformed the wood : the silicon.
And that’s what we call a "petrified wood" in the common language.

The pictures were taken wet/cleaned, which is why the color is a little more intense than when dry.
