BOJ Eibar Espana - a damascene turtle desk bell - Spain - 20th century
Lot consists a vintage damascene designed turtle shaped hotel desk bell. Marked on bottom BOJ Eibar Espana. When the head of tail is pressed down, the bell rings.
The damascene shell is beautifully etched with flowers, leaves and swallows in the center and fancy scroll work around the edges. Made by a master damascene craftsman in Eibar Espana (Spain) for BOJ. The pat. No. Is 19536 & no. 30366. Photo
This fine little turtle appears to have a gold wash or gold plate to the finish.
This bell is in perfectly working condition.
Material: Iron
Approx. 6" long x 3" wide. ( 15 x 7.5 cm)
