Rare, postage stamp 1959, USSR. "250 years of the historical Poltava victory, 1709." On a stamp with a face value of 40 kopecks, captured Swedish troops, led by Prime Minister Karl Pieper and field marshals, fold their flags in front of Peter I. The circulation of the stamp was already produced and ready for issue, but at this time diplomatic relations with Sweden intensified. After the visit of Swedish Prime Minister T. Erlander to the USSR, a return visit of N. S. Khrushchev to Sweden was planned. On the eve of this meeting, they decided to destroy the circulation so as not to offend the new partners by focusing attention on such an unpleasant event for them as the defeat in the Battle of Poltava. Only one stamp sheet has survived. An unissued postage stamp. Several stamps have ended up in private collections.
