With the Ardnahoe Inaugural Release, Stewart Laing's life comes full circle - 60 years ago he learned the art of distilling whiskey on Islay - and now, together with his sons Andrew and Scott, he is bringing this bottling from his own distillery onto the market. With Islay peat smoke on the nose, custard, ginger, lemon peel and baked apples on the palate and a long, smoky finish, the Inaugural Release is a classic, sophisticated Islay single malt. Matured in a combination of ex-Bourbon and ex-Oloroso sherry casks and bottled at 50% ABV, the distinctive Islay characteristics of peat and smoke are balanced with a sweet fruitiness and real depth of flavor.
