Il était répertorié comme ayant des adresses à Londres et à Cambridge, mais peignait souvent des scènes de la côte nord-est, notamment Scarborough, Whitby et Staithes. Robert Ernest Roe a exposé quatre œuvres à Suffolk Street, dont le château de Scarborough et Stone Point, Walton-on-Naze.
