Verenigde Staten van Amerika - WW2 Paratrooper style wrist Compass - worn by paratroopers, engineers + strap - no reserve - Militaire uitrusting - 1944
A genuine WW2 fully functional! issue wrist compass as used by a number of units including the Airborne troops. This fully functional example is in relatively good condition for its age and clearly marked on the reverse (see photo's), and has a non-regulatory, but period leather strap included. The compass has a crack in the glass but it is fully functional and doesnt affect the working of the cmpass. The compass is also dated on the side, october 1944! (10-44) The strap and the compass have a wonderful patina, you can clearly see these were always together. Clearly issued example but in nice condition still!
This compass, official known as Compass, Wrist, Liquid-filled, was made by Taylor. The compass was usually seen worn on the wrist (duh!), but also over the sleeve, the shoulder loops, webbing, or at the ankle over the jump boots. Wrist compasses were used both by officers and enlisted men, unlike the lensatic compass, or marching compass, which was normally reserved for officers, NCO’s or men on a special mission. It has an old replacement strap which has seems to be on there for decades. Overall in completely UNCLEANED and in good condition, a beautiful survivor from WW2.
Great and rare 100% original item from WW2 in functional condition!
