Eddie Peake's first edition for Counter consists of a short aphoristic text screen printed onto magazine pages. Each magazine page is different and are taken from vintage copies of Paris Vogue 1989, a significant year in that Photoshop was on general release the following year.
The montage of the text and images creates unexpected readings, pulling the inherent sexuality of the advertisements to the fore while also inferring a sense of intimacy.

Eddie Peake's multi-faceted practice uses performance, video, photography, painting, sculpture and installation to explore the fluid aspects of sexuality, gender categorisation, and identity. Laying bare societal attitudes to sex while making us aware of our own voyeurism, his multi-sensory artworks are explicit and exuberant, titillating and playful. Perhaps best known for his performances, Eddie Peake develops gallery-based live works in which the relationships between an ensemble are made palpable through a series of choreographed gestures and interactions, with bodies switching between being seen as sculptural objects or complex human subjects. Emotions such as desire, jealousy, shame, or power are played out using surreal or unexpected signifiers such as colored body paints and animal costumes.
Eddie Peake was born in London in 1981.
