Schatz, vintage near mint condition, fully functional, - Weerstation - verchroomd

Founded in the 1850s, Schatz was the leading manufacturer of classic ship’s instruments, including clocks with fine mechanical chiming movements, before closing in 1985. This weather station set comprises fine examples of the top-of-the-range Schatz Royal Mariner clock and matching Schatz barometer, both fully functional and showing fine workmanship. The clock and barometer are made from chrome plated brass with a high gloss mirror finish. The clock has two eight-day mechanical movements for clock and chimes. The clock strikes the ship's bell 4-hour-watch-sequence marked by progressive cycles up to eight-bells, struck at 30-minute intervals. The clock-hammer will be stabilized for transport (see photo #28 - turn screw on back anticlockwise); chimes can be switched on/off using lever at III. The clock dial is in excellent condition with only minor patina. The lacquered brass-housings are fine with minimal patina (see photos), without cracks, dents or major blemishes. The door is secured by a scuttle clamp. The facet-cut glass ports are clean and intact. Regulate time using screw at XII. Key included, together with a copy of the instruction leaflet. The barometer is calibrated in millibars and inches (mercury units), adjustment (e.g. after transport) from rear. There is a fine capillary thermometer (Celsius/Fahrenheit). A great opportunity to own a set of these superb instruments - use at home, in the office or on-board ship. I always pack with great care (see reviews) and send securely with insurance.
