The light shines on a pewter globe, which one can rotate using a lever. At the same time, a little ball representing the moon circles around it and the whole (sun, earth, and moon) rotate on the axis of the base, so that a map shows a different constellation every month. When the Earth has been round 30 times, the Moon has circled the Earth once and a month has passed. The swivel mechanism works well.
