This motorbike was created following a project by Lino Tonti, head of Project Office in Moto Guzzi company, who in the early 1970s dreamt to build an automatic gearbox superbike. The project was later approved by Alejandro de Tomaso, owner of Moto Guzzi company. Specifications All components are original. History in 1975, the I-Convert type is the top motorcycle made by Moto Guzzi at Mandello del Lario, Italy, for the torque converter and automatic two-speed gearbox, its engine size (1,000 cc, firstly on a Moto Guzzi bike), and integral brake system. I-Convert is also the first among the Guzzi 1000cc bikes to mount "round cylinders" (as the later SP version from 1978 and the coeval G5 type). Automatic two-speed transmission with only two gear ratios: the first one allows speeds from 0 to 130 km/h, the second from 0 to 170 km/h. That's why there’s still a gear lever on the bike’s left side. The clutch lever is a safety device that is activated at the first start to avoid any sudden movement of the motorcycle, forcing the driver to hold both hands on the handlebars.
