From F. Boucher (1703-1770).
Boucher was superintendent of the Manufacture des Gobelins as from 1755.
His boards had a huge success. Reflection of an amiable and refined era, his work is entirely dedicated to love, libertinage and celebrations. Nature is for him an excuse for graceful compositions where shepherds and shepherdesses are concerned, above all, with love, flowers and music.

Boucher’s paintings are a faithful reflection of a gentle and refined time, entirely dedicated to love, libertinage and festivities. For him, nature is only a pretext for graceful compositions in which shepherds and shepherdesses indulge in love, flowers and music.
