The Tulip Knoll chair designed by Eero Saarinen in 1957 has been a design icon for 50 years now.
It is known as the Tulip Chair and it's characterised by its famous chalice shape, enhanced by the reduction of the support into a single central stalk. Just like a flower, blossoming with innovative materials in accordance to the modern trends of the period. Born from the desire to unite quality design and mass production to make domestic pieces that are beautiful and accessible. The Tulip chair collection by Saarinen includes an armchair and a chair without armrests with fixed or rotating base.
The logo KnollStudio and the signature of Eero Saarinen are located under the base to guarantee authenticity.
The chair is a product that has won many awards: the Design Center Stuttgart Award in 1962, the Federal Award of Industrial Design in 1969 and the Museum of Modern Art Award in 1969. In 2006 (until August 2008), for the occasion of the 50th anniversary of its creation, Knoll produced the Tulip in a Special Edition in platinum with commemorative hallmark.
This piece, in the version without armrests, is practically new, used only once in the pictures of an advertisement.
The leather seat presents no traces of wear, and neither does the structure, they are in truly excellent condition, a piece of design history.
