Diemnsions of painting 60 x 100 In good condition. Victor Trip 1913 - 1975 was born in Djokjakarta and died in Rotterdam in 1975. His father, Victor Emile Jullien, died when Victor was a toddler. His mother, Catharina Zitter, married Abraham Sibensius Trip. After the death of Catharina in 1919, the latter applied -shortly before his own death- for a name change for his stepson Victor, whose surname then became Jullien Trip. Victor Trip was also interned in a Japanese camp for a period of 5 years. In the sixties he made a trip to Ceylon, where he stayed and worked for a number of years. The artist doest not paint Dutch, but Indonesian skies, hij is very skillful and in the fifties becomes well-known as a commercial artist. This was the stepping stone for him to paint for KLM (via an associate of the deputy director). His harbours are very powerful, in his own typical style and also his painting of aeroplanes are rare and sought-after.
