These vases were classified by S. Fukai according to their sizes. These jars seem to have been made in the the regions of Hasanlu and Ziwiye, in modern-day Western Iran, even if many examples were excavated in other Near-Eastern cities as Assur, Babylon and so on. While imitations of these vessels have been found as far away as the ancient Elam (Susa) .
