ITEM: Vessels lot (2) MATERIAL: Pottery CULTURE: Assyrian - Neo-Elamite PERIOD: ca 9th century BC DIMENSIONS: 95 mm x 75 mm, 90 mm x 65 mm CONDITION: Good condition PROVENANCE: Ex English private collection, A., acquired between 1980 - 2015 The decoration is only to be found on the shoulder area: on a broad band with a yellow background, the potter painted stylized petals and outlined thier silhouettes in black. These vases were classified by S. Fukai according to their sizes. These jars seem to have been made in the the regions of Hasanlu and Ziwiye, in modern-day Western Iran, even if many examples were excavated in other Near-Eastern cities as Assur, Babylon and so on. While imitations of these vessels have been found as far away as the ancient Elam (Susa) .
