Combining the charm of cartoons with the raw energy of outsider artists like Jean Dubuffet, Haring developed a distinct pop-graffiti aesthetic centered on bold, fluid outlines against a backdrop of dense, rhythmic images such as newborns, barking dogs, flying saucers, hearts and Mickey Mouse.
