Gispen - André R. Cordemeyer, Wim Rietveld - Lenestol (3) - 416 - Polyester, metall

Absolute museum-pieces! This are museum pieces, the one and only chairs, original in red but by Cordemeyer pained in white for the exhibition in Brussels, 1958, where this chairs were introduced, but not still available in white. We bought this chair from the family Cordemeyer. This are the first chairs ever produced in this line. The shell is in fiberglass. Damaged, but repaired. Furthermore traces of wear and some loss of paint/coating on the frame. This first Dutch polyester armchair was made of one piece of moulded polyester, a new technique for the Dutch furniture making market. This experimental chair was a success and the start of something beautiful. The seat is supported by a tubular solid metal frame with rubber shock mounts. The chairs are used after the exhibition in the house of family Cordemeyer. There are some repairs, made by André Cordemeyer himself what makes the chairs even more unique for museums. Also one chair, used in the same exhibition in 1958 in Brussels, where the Atomium was introduced and exposed, in original red is available. Painted in white, all shells show some traces of wear, like some spots, scratches and some loss of paint, while also some have white paint drops (#29) and craquelé spots in the seat corners and on the sides (see picture #12). Frames have traces of wear, like loss of paint, some rusty spots. Two shells are not attached to their bases, more convenient to transport, screws are available Weight 9 kg each. Worldwide shipping possible Pick-up possible (IJmuiden, Port of Amsterdam, the Netherlands)
