Surprisingly, despite being published in 1934, this is the first edition in book form. The book was left as a manuscript by Dicken's - who wrote it for his children and never intended publication. After his death, it was kept unpublished, until his last surviving son (Henry Fielding Dickens) permitted it to be published after his own death at the age of 84 in 1933. This is the deluxe edition with a frontis of Dickens and 11 other plates. Original green flecked dust wrapper with title to the front board. Clean and tidy with just a little rubbing to the spine edge. Book itself is in very good, clean condition. The boards are unbumped and bright. The pages are on still high quality paper, and in excellent condition. Only flaw is two ink dots to the colophon page (see pic) A marvellous example of this work.
