Intec Gasper number 32. Please see and read the booklet. Comes from the collection of 41 Gaspers, released and made by the company Intec, in Veenendaal. Only chemists and pharmacists with sufficient turnover received these unique, hand-painted gaspers. They are all made out of pulverised natural stone, except for no. 41 which was the last one and is made out of polyester-resin. The moulds were eventually destroyed in front of guests at the company’s closing-down party. The Gaspers served as advertising to attract shoppers to his chemist’s shop. Hung as from the 17 century on the gables. The gasper is not yawning, but his mouth is open in order to take his medication. Gaspers are real folk-art products and are only seen in the Netherlands and in Flanders.
