19th century 'Augustus Rex' German porcelain trembleuse cup and matching saucer. The finely made pieces comprise of a cup with a loop handle and the body painted with a scene of a Rococo era couple sitting under a tree. The scene is painted in coloured enamels and set within a decorative gilded border with further scrolling floral designs on a rich cobalt blue ground. The saucer is similarly decorated with two panels each with other gallant scenes and set within gilded surrounds against a cobalt blue ground. . 310 g Cup – 7.2 cm tall, 9.5 cm diameter Saucer – 2.7 cm tall, 14 cm diameter Excellent condition.
