Pewter Chalice with engraved decorations. Second half 18th century. German or Austrian.
In the pewter chalice the following text is engraved in gothic letters:
Agnus Dei qui tollis peccata mundi. Meaning: See the Lamb of God that bears the sins of the world.
On one side of the chalice a engraved depiction of the crucified Christ on the other side the abbreviation: IHS wich means Jesus Hominem Salvator = Jezus the Redemptor of mankind.
The chalice is also adorned with engravings of floral motives and leaves.
Dimensions: 27 x 13 x 13 cm.
