A set of 2 unusual Kokeshi -handmade wooden dolls from Japan- from a private Japanese collector. This lovely couple -Ojisan (grandfather) and Obasan (grandmother)- are very pronounced and well shaped to show the long hard working life they spent together. Their facial expressions may seem quite harsh, compared to the normal 'kawaii' Kokeshi. However, if you study them closely, you will see that these faces express a multitude of emotions: determination, hardship, contentment, love... Please see the close up pictures for details.
