This elegant motif, often found in the works of renowned artists like Nonomura Ninsei and Ogata Kenzan, represents the clouds through cherry blossoms and the brocade through maple leaves, a high-class pattern that echoes the beauty of nature and the changing seasons. Maki-e is a time-honored Japanese lacquerware technique where artisans sprinkle gold or silver powder over lacquer to create detailed decorations. Nashiji, akin to maki-e, uses metallic flakes to create a textured appearance reminiscent of a pear's skin, adding a distinctive shine and depth to the artwork. Born in Showa 25 (1950), Kuze Muneharu apprenticed under his father, the original Muneharu, from Showa 36 (1961) and succeeded the name as the second-generation Muneharu in Showa 50 (1975). He has received accolades at the Nihon Geijutsu Exhibition and the Lacquerware Cooperative Chairman's Award, and continues to this day as a specialist lacquerer for tea ceremony utensils. In good condition with minimal wear, this natsume is a collector's item that carries the legacy of Japanese craft and artistry. Dimensions: approx.
