A fine and large solid silver cake server or fish server with dark hardwood handle, circa 1830, measuring circa 32cm in length and weighing a gross 91g. Engraved to the contoured blade with scrolling acanthus, scallop ornament connector and gadrooned sleeve. Stamped to the stem with Hamburg city mark, maker´s mark of Johann H.F. Viol and cipher 65, probably indicating 65 grams of silver was used in the manufacture of the object. Condition: Overall very good, no damages or repairs. Minor wear, minimal scratches.
