This is a 3D chess set as it was originally played by Captain Kirk and Mr. Spock in the classic episode 'Where No Man Has Gone Before'. The chessboard consists of three playing fields floating above one another with on their corners four smaller playing fields with each four fields. The chessboard is made of transparent PVC. The chess pieces are made of heavily gold-plated (24 kt) tin and are heavily silver-plated with sterling silver. The base of het playing fields is equipped with the Star Trek insignia. Two stands of the small playing fields show signs of wear (slight foxing on one side). With original box of the pieces, proof of shipment, certificate, rules, and maintenance guide by Franklin Mint.
