a large French art deco lamp by Raymond Subes & Daum - Lampe - Glass, smijern

Raymond Subes & Daum A large and very rare French art deco lamp made around 1925 by Raymond Subes in wrought iron of superb quality. It holds a nice model Daum shade signed Daum Nancy scratched in the wet glass paste. The lamp is 49,5 cm high and the Daum shade has a diameter of 31,2 cm. The lamp is in very good condition. The forged base has a nice deep-brown almost black patina. Some common minor and superficial scratches on top of the shade. Raymond Subes was the successor of the famous blacksmith Émile Robert. In 1909 Robert merged with la maison Borderel. A factory producing construction materials owed by the investor E.Borderel. It allowed Robert to open a large forge with a staff of 25 workers. In 1916 Raymond Subes started to work for Robert. And after the first world war Subes became the artistic director of the firm. Subes hardly ever signed his lamp bases. The lamp topped with an alabaster shade is represented in the old Borderel et Robert catalog (which is no part of this sale). The lamp is rewired with new cloth covered twisted cord and is equipped with an American candelabra base socket and US plug. For European countries I will rewire the lamp with a A14 socket. Safe packaging guaranteed: As specialized restorer of French art Deco lighting for over 20 years I ship my parcels worldwide with the fragile items well protected and fully insured. Having custom made wiring I can accept no returns. #roaringtwenties
