A very RARE and beautiful book...."The poems by Thomas Hood" with 22 singled sided illustrations by Birket Foster. An elaborate cover. This copy in highly decorated green cloth with red areas and lots of gilt decorations and title and black fancy borders, etc. But, what is most fascinating are the simple steel rural/landscape type engravings done by the Birket Foster. Each with a tissue guard and in nice shape. Externally original cloth in very good condition, very bright colours light wear on corners and edges. Inside scattered light foxing in the text but illustrations in overall good condition and clean. Uncommon. Scarce in this beautiful binding.
