Beautiful "Simboli/Trifoglio" stoneware vase by Aldo Londi for Bitossi ceramics, mid 20th century. Diameter 9.5 cm. Height 18 cm. Weight approx. 650 grams All relevant stamps are present under the bowl. Good condition, the only thing worth mentioning is a small chip along the rim, see last image. Aldo Londi was born in Montelupo (Florence) in 1911 and almost immediately immersed himself in the world of ceramics. At the age of 11, he got his first job at a ceramics factory, where he immersed himself in the craft. This immersion even continued while he was imprisoned as a prisoner of war in Johannesburg, South Africa, from 1935 to 1943. After the war, Londi continued his work and was eventually appointed artistic director of the famous Bitossi family's ceramics workshop in Montelupo. Rimini Blue is named after the major road junction that connects central and northern Italy, as well as the striking glaze combination used for the series, which combines layers of blue and turquoise.
