After the example of the original by J.P. Mene - Skulptur, Luis Vaz de Camoens - 54 cm - Legering

Beautiful statue of Luís Vaz de Camões (Spanish) Camoens (English). Signed with (pseudo-signature) P.J. Mene Copy Portuguese warrior and poet. 55 cm high and 15.7 kg heavy. Luís Vaz de Camões (Portuguese pronunciation: [luˈiʒ ˈvaʒ ðɨ kaˈmõjʃ]; c. 1524 or 1525 – June 10, 1580), sometimes rendered in English as Camoens or Camoëns[1] (/ˈkæmoʊənz/ KAM - oh-ənz), is considered the greatest poet of Portugal and the Portuguese language. His mastery of verse has been compared to that of Shakespeare, Milton, Vondel, Homer, Virgil and Dante. He wrote a considerable amount of lyric poetry and drama, but is best remembered for his epic work Os Lusíadas (The Lusiads). His collection of poems Het Parnasum van Luís de Camões was lost during his lifetime. The influence of his masterpiece Os Lusíadas is so profound that Portuguese is sometimes called the "language of Camões". The day of his death, June 10, O.S., is the national holiday of Portugal. The testimonies of his contemporaries describe him as a man of average size, with reddish-blond hair, blind in his right eye, skilled in all physical exercises and with a temperamental character, who has little difficulty in taking part in fights. It is said that as a soldier he was of great value, showing courage, fighting spirit, sense of honor and willingness to serve, a good companion in his spare time, liberal, cheerful and witty when misfortunes did not overwhelm his spirit and make him sad . He was aware of his merits as a human being, as a soldier and as a poet. It will be very carefully packed and shipped with tracking number.
