Very nice original (almost impossible to find) Mission Accomplished, the Story of the Campaigns of the VII Corps United States Army in the War Against Germany, 1944-1945 . It was published in Leipzig, Germany by J. J. Weber, 1945. It has several color maps and many b/w pictures that cover the unit after its landing at D-Day in Normandy thru the end of the war. It begins with the preparation for D-Day, the Invasion, South of Normandy, Race Accross France, On into Germany, the Battle of the Bulge, the Rhineland, Rose Pocket, and the end of the war. It has a statistical summary and a troop list of units the served under them. Noticable units would included the 4th, 9th, 79th and 90th Infantry Divisions, the 101st and 82nd Airborne, the 4th Cavalry Group and the 6th Armored Group. In good condition for its age. In late December 1941, VII Corps HQ was moved to San Jose, California as part of the Western Defense Command and as it continued to train and prepare for deployment.[3] Its first return to continental Europe took place on D-Day in June 1944, as one of the two assault corps for the U.S. First Army during Operation Overlord, targeting Utah Beach via amphibious assault. For Overlord, the 82nd and 101st Airborne Divisions were attached to VII Corps.[4] After the Battle of Normandy the airborne units were assigned to the newly created XVIII Airborne Corps. Subsequently, VII Corps participated in many battles during the advance across France and then invaded Germany until the surrender of the Third Reich in May 1945. The corps was inactivated in 1946.
