Founded on what was the Republic of Panama’s first ever sugar mill – and a whole day’s trek from the nearest city – this remote location served up the perfect treasure for rum enthusiasts. Selecting 22 exquisite barrels of the finest Panama 2010 vintage, Alexandre’s picks are shaped by the lush rainforests and sweeping hillsides which surround the distillery. The region’s tropical conditions and humid climate all assist in the creation of this truly unique expression. Harnessing Plantation Rum’s signature double-aging technique, 8 years of rest in Central America are followed by a trans-antlantic voyage to south-west France and a further 5 years of maturation in French oak casks. TASTING NOTES Nose : Fragrant and fruity on fresh coconut and dill, plum, nectarine, citrus, almond, cinnamon, vanilla, honey and sesame. Palate : Fresh, fruity and spicy with pear, berries, orange and figs with butterscotch and hints of coffee, pepper and custard. Finish : Long and dry on coconut, banana, tobacco, all spices, chocolate and licorice.
