DESCRIPTION This is a beautiful Japanese kokeshi. Almost good condition artist: 山中三平 Yamanaka Sanpei, born in 1926 in Yonezawa City, Yamagata Prefecture. After leaving the engineering department of Yamagata University, I devoted myself to the creation of Kokeshi dolls, accompanied by my camera as a friend. I have been selected for numerous exhibitions at the Nika Exhibition as a photographer, and in 1964, I was awarded the Camera Mainichi Annual Award. I am a member of the Yonezawa Miyuki-kai and the Nika-kai Photography Division. In 1983, I was responsible for the photography of the "Creative Kokeshi Craft Encyclopedia" published that year. Notable Awards: At the National Modern Kokeshi Exhibition: In 1979, received the Minister of Education Award for "Folk Tales" At the All-Japan Kokeshi Competition: Received the Governor of Miyagi Prefecture Award and the Minister of Economy, Trade, and Industry Award, among numerous others. Dimensions 23 × 8.7 × 8.7 cm Kokeshi are wooden handmade artisanal dolls from Japan. The most prevalent theory is that they appeared during the Tempo period (1830 - 1843) in the mountainous Tohoku region. Initially, they were intended as toys for the children. Later they became popular souvenirs and real decorative items, for some even collector items. NOITICE The lot will be carefully packaged and sent by DHL or FedEx depend on the situation.
