Anton Corbijn - anton corbijn, a. somebody, strijen, holland - 2002
Corbijn has been photographing stars from the music and film scene for 25 years. In his book, Anton Corbijn turns the camera on himself. All 21 self-portraits were taken in Strijen, the village on a small Dutch island where Corbijn was born in 1955 as the son of the village priest and lived until 1966. In the spirit and habitus of the musicians he admired, none of whom are still alive, and shot like cheap photos in color, Corbijn plays with the idea of what a photo might have looked like if Bob Marley, John Lennon or Frank Zappa had happened to come to his home village of Strijen.
