Restrung with ancient beads, professional new materials and decorative spacer beads. All metal spacer beads, fastenings, etc. are new (gold-plated). Signs of wear consistent with age and use. Certificate of Authenticity available upon request (pdf-document). Ancient beads: All authentic ancient beads are slightly different in shape or colour shade and show different signs of wear or iridescence. This adds to the charm of each piece and makes every composition unique. HISTORY: Lapis Lazuli was associated with strength, courage, royalty, wisdom and truth. The dark blue colour reminded the Egyptian of the night skies and the gold pyrite flecks as the stars. It was favoured by the Egyptian pharaohs and was famously used in the burial mask of King Tutankhamen. Due to its comparative rarity, coral is likely to have been prized by the ancient Egyptians. The ownership of such items also implied wealth and status for the wearer. Ancient Egyptians used coral pieces in tombs as protection against evil spirits in the afterworld, as they believed it contains a drop of divine blood. The Romans hung branches of coral around the necks of their children to protect them from danger.
